Estate Administration: Help After the Loss of a Loved One
When someone has died, the people left behind inherit a job along with their grief: settling the estate. How that job unfolds depends on the planning that was done. Our team has walked this road with many families, and whichever path yours takes, you won’t walk it alone.

Two Paths, One Guide
Probate
The public, court-supervised process that applies when assets pass under a will, or with no will at all. The court oversees everything from validating the will to distributing assets, and in Ohio it typically takes 9 to 18 months.
Trust Administration
The private settlement of assets held in a trust, carried out by the trustee under the trust's terms rather than a judge's supervision. Faster and more private than probate, but trustees carry real legal duties.
Many estates involve both: a trust holding most assets, plus a probate estate for anything left outside it. Because we handle both sides, nothing falls between the cracks.
What to Do First
In the first weeks, focus on your family. The legal work can wait a little. When you’re ready: locate the will or trust, order several death certificates, secure the home and vehicles, and hold off on paying large bills or distributing anything until you understand the estate’s obligations. Then call us, and we’ll map out everything else.
I really enjoyed working with Culpepper Law because I enjoyed the relational aspect of how they treated their clients and the process. I really felt good about in the end where my money went to, and the value, and the services I received.
When I think of Culpepper Law, one word comes to mind, and that’s clarity… the legal system today, I can’t understand it, but Culpepper Law puts it down in such a way that, not only do I understand it, but I can embrace it and use it to my purpose.
